Laser rangefinder - what it is and how it works

The laser rangefinder or laser measurer is a high-precision instrument used by technicians (surveyors, engineers, architects) to measure the distance between two points, even very distant ones, without the aid of a conventional meter.

Its operation is based on the emission of a low intensity laser beam which bouncing off a surface allows the chronometer integrated into the instrument to accurately measure the time taken by the beam to return.

At this point the rangefinder, based on the speed of light in the air and the time measured, can precisely define the distance between the device and the object.

The rangefinders as well as in construction are used in the military field for the construction of sights.

In conclusion, it is a tool with a high potential in terms of yield and reduction of working times, despite the weather conditions (lighting, rain, etc ...) and the surface of the object greatly influence the final result, thus forcing us to resort to good old meter.
